Uses of vermact 12 mg
Vermact 12mg Tablet is used in the treatment of onchocerciasis which is a parasitic worm infection caused by Onchocerca volvulus transmitted through the bite of black flies characterized by skin itching and vision impairment.
Vermact 12mg Tablet is used in the treatment of strongyloidiasis which an intestinal infection caused by a roundworm is called Strongyloides stercoralis characterized by abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Vermact 12mg Tablet is used in the treatment of scabies which is a skin infection caused by the mite called Sarcoptes scabiei characterized by itching and red rashes on the skin.
Drug interaction of Vermact 12 mg
Interaction with Alcohol
- Description – Consumption of alcohol may increase the effect of Vermact 12 MG Tablet.
- Instructions – Consumption of alcohol is not recommended in patients receiving Vermact 12 MG Tablet. It may increase the concentration of this medicine and can cause skin rash, headache, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Warning of Vermact 12 mg tablet
Pregnancy – This medicine is not recommended for pregnant women unless necessary. The risk and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before receiving this medicine.
Breast-feeding – This medicine is known to excreted in breastmilk. It is not recommended in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Avoid direct contact of this medicine with the baby.
Mazzotti reaction – Patients being treated with Vermact 12 MG Tablet for onchocerciasis may experience mazzotti reaction which are cutaneous and systemic adverse effect. These patients should be monitored closely. Supportive care should be initiated based on the severity.
Pretreatment assessment for Loa loa infection – Patients with significant exposure to endemic areas and being treated with Vermact 12 MG Tablet for onchocerciasis may have an increase in the risk of fatal encephalopathy. The symptoms include neck pain, red eye, urinary and fecal incontinence, mental status changes, seizures, or coma. Therefore, pretreatment assessment for loiasis is necessary.
Pediatric use – This medicine is not recommended for children with body weight less than 15 kg.
Precaution of Vermact 12 mg tablet
Ivermectin lotion should not be used for children under 6 months of age.
Ivermectin should be taken empty stomach with water.
Ivermectin tablets should not be given to children under 5 years of age and weight under 15 kg.
Do not take/apply ivermectin and consult your doctor if you are sensitive to ivermectin or any other ingredient to tablet/cream/lotion; or if you have concurrent loa loa infection; suffering from brain problems, bleeding disorder, or asthma.
Avoid using ivermectin if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Vermact 12 mg Dosage
In case you miss a dose, use it as soon as you notice. If it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your dosing schedule. Do not use extra dose to make up for a missed dose. If you are regularly missing doses, consider setting an alarm or asking a family member to remind you. Please consult your doctor to discuss changes in your dosing schedule or a new schedule to make up for missed doses, if you have missed too many doses recently.
Do not use more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. If you suspect that you or anyone else who may have overdosed of Vermact Tablet, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home. Bring a medicine box, container, or label with you to help doctors with necessary information.
Do not give your medicines to other people even if you know that they have the same condition or it seems that they may have similar conditions. This may lead to overdosage.
Storage of Vermact 12 mg
Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
